Mark founded the clinic due to an increase in word of mouth referrals for his services. As an ex-professional footballer, Mark had to retire at 21 year old following several knee operations, and poor physiotherapy provision. He not only knows what it’s like to play at the highest level, but also the psychology of an injured player, and the dedication needed to get back on the pitch. His time spent on the sideline sparked a passion for rehabilitation of sports players and in particular junior footballers. Since qualification as a chartered physiotherapist, Mark spent many years working as a senior physiotherapist in the NHS and in the private sector, and has worked with various sports clubs including Huddersfield Town FC.
As well as his role as director of the Mark Roe Sports Physio Academy and current clinic work, Mark works as consultant physiotherapist to Sheffield FC – the Worlds First Football Club, and regularly writes for the Sheffield and Hallamshire FA. His client base includes several current and ex-world champions in many sports. He also has good friendships and boxing and thai-boxing which brings him many high-profile clients and World champions. Also on his CV is the Soccer Aid 2010 event where he worked with Robbie Williams and football royalty such as Zidane and Figo. In his free time, Mark is the physiotherapist for M1 Charity football team which is made up of soap stars and ex-professional footballers. See testimonial page and the news page for more details.

Mike qualified as a Physiotherapist with a BSc Hons degree from Sheffield Hallam University. He began his career as ‘Assistant Physio’ in a busy district hospital near his home town of Reading and after a 3 year rotational placement moved to Sheffield to complete his academic training.
Mike began his post-grad vocational training in a new NHS Treatment Centre in Southampton, working closely with Consultant Surgeons to design new evidence-based treatment protocols for both upper and lower limb joint surgeries. Mike became a Senior therapist having specialised in the fields of Musculo-skeletal Physiotherapy, Outpatients and Orthopaedic rehabilitation whilst also gaining regular exposure to other core disciplines such as Respiratory and Medical Physiotherapy.
Alongside his hospital work Mike has also developed expertise in elite sport physiotherapy, climbing through the ranks at Sheffield Wednesday FC Academy as well as spending an interesting time working at Portsmouth FC back in the ‘glory days’ following their FA Cup success.
Mike has now permanently relocated to Sheffield and plans to remain in sport where possible. He is currently working towards achieving chartered status in Kinesio-Taping. His taping skills have helped several Sheffield runners complete the half marathon without pain, and even a drummer who initially had to tape his sticks to his hands to allow him to perform at a major rock festival.
In his spare time Mike is a keen sportsman and is currently training for a Triathlon in June and is looking forward to the 3 Peaks Challenge later in the year.
